Hereford Cathedral School Scoop Medals and Wins

Hereford Cathedral School Boat Club entered their first Head races of the season last weekend - for many it was their first Head race ever. At Evesham Junior Head on Saturday 6th October, over a course of 1900m, the Women's Junior 15 coxed quad of Kate Jones, Charlotte Cooper, Bethan Hunt, Eleanor Smith and cox, Sian Evans won silver medal in their event, the Men's junior 15 coxed quad of Xander Drury, Ben Pratt, Tim Steels, Neil Cockburn and cox, Sian Evans also won silver medal in their event along with Tomos Jones in the Junior 16 single scull. The Women's Junior J18 double scull of Jade Newman and Sophie Lort walked away with gold. Everyone who entered this race won a medal - this is a fantastic achievement by all concerned and they represented their school in commendable fashion.

At Worcester Head on Sunday 7th October over a much longer and more challenging course, 4500m, Ed Deutsch won his J16 Single scull race easily with 40 seconds to spare in the first division and then went on to row, and win, again in the second division with Tomos Jones when they raced in their J16 double scull - an admirable achievement in endurance.? Simon George and Oliver Butler also competed at Worcester in the J15 single sculls in their first ever long distance race and Simon came away with a winner's pot. A special thanks must go to all the parents who came along to help and support, in particular to Chris Jones who towed the trailer on both days.
